How About Quality Online Radios - Check Out the Selected Top 40 Hits Online Radio

More & More online radios appear each day on Live365, Yahoo! Launch, iTunes, MSN radio.... Yet, there are no real efforts on providing a quality standard for such online radios. Therefore, I decided to track many radios in each genre and present to you each month 1 or 2 online radios that I believe deserve to be qualified as Quality radios in that specific genre.

November 24, 2004 -- In July 2003, I wrote an article about "What can Online Radios provide more than Terrestrial radios?" (http://www.prweb.com/releases/2003/7/prweb73063.htm). Since then, more online radios appear each day on Live365, Yahoo! Launch, iTunes, MSN radio.... Yet, there are no real efforts on providing a quality standard for such online radios; there is really no way for a listener to identify which radio is better than another (before listening). Some radios are lucky to be listed on iTunes, others on MSN radio, and thus have a high audience, but that does not really give an idea of their good quality; being exposed to a high audience doesn't always reflect the quality offered. Therefore, I decided to track many radios in each genre and present to you each month 1 or 2 online radios that I believe deserve to be qualified as Quality radios in that specific genre.

This month's Genre is 'Top 40 Hits', and the selected radio is STAR RADIO at http://www.star-radio.net.

Star Radio is a legal online radio station that broadcasts via Live365 since March 2003. You can Listen Online in CD Quality to the Latest Hits from all around Europe, the USA, Canada and Australia. An International Top 40 Hits is updated every week on its website. In September 2003, Live365 selected Star Radio as an Editor's Pick and later in March 2004, Star Radio was nominated for the 'Best Pop Radio Station 2004 Award'; the awards ceremony was held in May in San Francisco.

Apart from playing hits from Usher, Maroon 5, Hoobastank, Anastacia, Avril Lavigne, George Michael, Christina Aguilera, Eminem and much more, Star Radio looks for talented artists all around the globe. These artists are very popular in their own country, but for many of them, they didn't get enough international exposure yet. As an example, Star Radio was one of the first radios to play tracks for Da Buzz, Bosson, In-grid, The Rasmus, Evanescence, Ian Van Dahl and K-Maro... and now radios around the world play their tracks !

Back in August 2004, Star Radio also started helping emerging artists (mostly unsigned yet) by promoting their tracks within the Star Radio braodcast. Alan , Star Radio's Broadcast Manager said "We don't charge emerging artists with any sort of fees; our aim is to expose their music online to a wide international audience. We also provide a small biography of each artist on our website + a link to their own personal website. After a few weeks, they get an appreciation feedback depending on our daily broadcast statistics.... We already play tracks to artists from the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, Brazil and Sweden".

Early in November 2004, Star Radio launched a French version of its 'rich in content' website. When I asked Brian, Star Radio's Director, the reason for this new french version, he replied "due to our nomination by Live365 for Best Pop Radio Station Award 2004 back in March, we had over 300% of additional listeners, many of which are from Canada and France", then Brian added "we are also developing 2 other versions of Star Radio's website; one in Spanish and another one in Dutch".

In 2005, Star Radio is planning on launching a new station playing the N1 Hits of the 80s and the 90s!
